Windflow Technology has capped off a milestone year by announcing that it has received an order for the next batch of 14 wind turbines for the Te Rere Hau wind farm. The order was placed by the Joint Venture between NP Power/Babcock&Brown (NPBB) and NZ Windfarms Ltd (NZWL). It came after the five existing turbines successfully completed a 45-day reliability run on Christmas Eve.

"We're delighted with the performance of our turbines at Te Rere Hau," said Windflow CEO Geoff Henderson. "We achieved 99.6% availability in December and our power curve is meeting expectations. This is a quite remarkable performance of which the whole Windflow team can feel justifiably proud." The wind farm was opened by Prime Minister Helen Clark in September and has averaged 97% availability since the first stage was fully commissioned in early November.

Windflow formed NZWL in 2002 and floated it as a separate company in late 2005 after entering a sale and purchase agreement for 97 turbines for Te Rere Hau, which provided for NZWL to confirm the turbine orders in about four batches over three years. This agreement has been transferred so that the Joint Venture has taken the place of NZWL.

"For Windflow the formal confirmation of this order is a major milestone because the 50% component from NPBB gives us a sale to a major customer at arms-length," said Mr Henderson.
